POWER TOOLS USE AND CARE

Power tools are long term worthwhile investment when properly maintained and cared. Fully utilized power tool will bring greater benefits to the owner and therefore yields better ROI. It is that priceless-feeling, gratitude and proud; to keep a working mint condition 10 years cut-off tool, which has contributed so much to countless of projects and jobs. By the way, it gets a little difficult maintaining them at all time healthy and ready for the job, if it often being borrowed and lend to friends, neighbors, co-workers, anyone who doesn’t (in most situation, doesn’t bother) about how expensive  power tools are. So, educate them about the proper usage and care that these tools require. A well taken care tools not only makes the job quicker and smoother, it also reduce the risk of accidents and mishaps that pose threat to the user and even other people. Now here are the list of some basic power tool use and care;
  • Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for the correct application. The correct tool will do the job effectively and safely at the rate for which it is designed.
  • Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it ON and OFF. Any tool that cannot be controlled by the switch directly is dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Disconnect the plug from the power source or disconnect the battery pack from the tool before making adjustments, changing blades, accessories or storing it. This is preventive measure that eliminates the risk of accidental power on.
  • Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow anyone who is not familiar with it to operate the tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
  • Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the tool operation.
  • Keep the tool blades and bits sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools blades and bits are manageable and easier to control during operation.
  • Use the power tool, accessories, tool bits and blades accordingly. They are meant to be used in the manner intended for a particular type of purpose for specific tool. Sometimes there are tools that able to do multiple tasks according to the designated purposes. Use of the power tool for different operations from those intended purposes, could result in a hazardous situation.
  • Power tool should be serviced regularly by qualified personnel. Identical or better quality parts and replacements should be used when needed, to ensure the tool is safe and operational to use.
  • Keep the power tool dry and clean from water element, oil and grease, unless on the parts where it is needed.

The list can always be tailored to suit your needs.  Power tools are bought to be used and utilized, not to be exploited and misused.  A healthy tool which is maintained accordingly will make working fun and enjoyable. Keep up the drill!
