HP DESKJET F2280

A customer sent in an HP All-in-one printer, few days ago namely Deskjet F2280. She complained that the printer is unable to print colored pages even after new cartridge had been installed. The HP Deskjet F2280 is a base line multifunction ink based printer priced at the range of RM150 to RM200. Upon checking, the printer was not able to print colored outputs due to wrong cartridge installation. It turned out that she forgot to strip off the thin protecting plastic-film on the color cartridge end before putting it in. HP had placed this plastic-film as a protection which sealed the cartridge that they produce. In fact, Canon and Epson are doing the same thing too, usually at the bottom end of their cartridges which protect their new cartridges off from moisture, dirt and air. Inside the box, the new HP Deskjet F2280 came with black and color cartridges, HP 21 and HP 22. HP 21 and HP 22 cartridges yield capacity are 190 pages and 160 pages respectively. However, the provided cartridges, which is the tuned-down-version from the new set manages only 70 pages and 85 pages of print output.  HP 21XL and HP 22XL are the bigger capacity of ink cartridge which boost up to 2 times of print outputs from the previous version.
Performance wise, the HP Deskjet F2280 is not a bad printer. It prints output close to the acclaimed of 20 ppm for black and 14ppm for color. Beside the capability of operating stand-alone, it also capable of borderless-printing and photo printing, by using HP 58 photo cartridge. Print quality is also superior, in comparison to other manufacturers at the base level printers and multi-functions range. As long as the print-heads kept clean and regularly checked, the print outputs will be satisfactory. Performance wise, the Deskjet is above the average of ordinary base multi-functions printer. The control panel is easy to access and simple to operate, while the paper feed tray, manage to hold up to 80 sheets of papers. Apart from the boring beige being, the HP Deskjet F2280 is a very good all in one printer, with an appetite for original expensive HP ink cartridges. Scanning and copying ability is pretty much the same for all-in-one printers at this range, which is 1200 x 2400 dpi. Pity, this printer cannot be CISS-ed.
