DEWALT DC9PAKIA

We built our house on several phases in 2 years duration. Medium sized, measuring around 35 feet x 55 feet. It was got-money-do-something type of plan. The initial phase was, we had like RM15K we finished it up doing the ground work, piling and making foundation. That’ll include laying the pavement 80 feet from the road to the site. After few days, we ran out of funds, back to normal life again, for few months. Not long after that, we had like around RM5-10K, so we did the wall and frames (for the windows and doors). So new phase steps in, phase after phase until a little later, it was a complete home. Not bad, for un-budgeted figure of RM60K.
During the final phase of the construction, I was doing the fittings and installation parts। I had to install the doors, windows few other stuff like that, including fixing ceilings all around the house. Usually, my wife will do the paint works, while I get the readily painted windows fixed on its frame. Pretty tiresome, since the windows we’ve purchased was not accurately measured with the already fitted frame, so I had to tailor them (saw, cut, sand, planer, chip, hack, whack and whatever possible means I can get it fit, depending on my mood). This is where I’ve acquired DEWALT DC9PAKIA 9 pieces Cordless Power Tools. Honestly, it was overkill. I’ve made the purchase through Ebay, while the charger was purchased from Ebay UK. The shipping box came through 2 huge boxes weighing not less than 20kg.
DeWalt DC9PAKIA is the code name for a 9 tools Heavy-Duty Combo Kit. It is a 18V XRP cordless  power tools. The brand DeWalt is not that popular locally, as local contractors and builders usually opt for Bosch, Makita and some other brands. I had the cordless tools over corded tools, since the thought of cordless tools are more power efficient than corded tools. Plus, the DeWalt 18V range of cordless tools has a fair balance or mobility and power. Actually DeWalt has a quite a range of cordless products, which are 12V, 18V, 24V and 28V. The 18V XRP is the broadest range of them all. In fact there is no other power tools manufacturer that produces more 18V cordless tools than DeWalt. Yes, this is the fact! DeWalt has more than 50 type of tools in their 18V cordless range that can use the same battery pack (XRP 18V). DeWalt claims that by offering a complete range of heavy-duty cordless solutions, the user have what they need for any type of job on the site. They pioneered professional cordless jobsite solutions under the most demanding conditions in the industry, bar none, so when we talk about Cycle Life you know it’s been tested for real life.
Out of the 2 boxes, the DeWalt DC9PAKIA Heavy-Duty XRP 18V Cordless 9-Tool Combo Kit consist of 9 heavy duty cordless tools and some of their accessories and freebies. They are ½” hammerdrill/drill/driver (DC925 XRP), 6 ¼” circular-saw (DC390 XRP), reciprocating saw (DC385 XRP), 1/2" high-torqe impact wrench (DW059), ½” impact driver (DW056), variable speed jig saw (DC330 XRP), cut-off tool (DC410), cut-out tool (DC550), Flexible Flood Light, Fast Charger (sadly it was the 120V version), 18V XRP batteries (2 Units), carbide tipped circular saw blade, circular saw rip fence, reciprocating saw blade, type 1 and type 27 guards, wrench, backing flange, 3-position side handle and 2 pieces of huge DeWalt Contractor Bags. It was awesomely awesome.
The ½” DC925 XRP™ 18V cordless hammerdrill, is the best drill ever had landed on my hands, period. It has a high power motor which delivers 510 unit watts output. The torqe is far superior than my old corded Black and Decker ¼” KR hammerdrill. With the right bit, it will penetrate ply woods like butter, and hardwood with ease. The design is typically DeWalt which somehow, you know, you won’t get this kind of tools in the ordinary local hardware stores. The DC390 XRP 18V circular saw is fitted with 6-1/2" 16-tooth carbide blade. Purposely to cut and rip treated wood. It can cut and rip fence 2 X 4's at a 45 degree angle in a single pass. The circular saw does drain the battery pretty fast. The reciprocating saw (DC385 XRP) is my favorite. It is a keyless saw which clamped the blade. I found it very useful to clean up excess and protruding woods and metals used as support beams, during the earlier construction phase. Steel pipe is also no problem. Only it vibrates hard enough to send distress signal to all your limbs.
The DW056 XRP impact driver is a mini version of the ½” DC925. It is smaller and lighter by at least 50% and easier to carry around for fitting jobs. Especially to those work spots that need climbing up on a 5-8 steps ladder. The power is also not bad, since it also can penetrate easily through my fitted windows frame with ease. Only that, finding screws that can withstand the force of this drill and the hardness of the wood, bothers me. I hate it when my screws break inside the wood due to excessive force during fittings. Lame screws! The cut-off tool (DC410) is actually a hand grinder. The blade is changeable to cut or grind. Since Dewalt only provided a cut-off blade, I tried fitting it with Bosch and Bosun grinding wheel. The result is direct fit and works smoothly. The cut-off tool is cool, since it is a grinder, but way lighter than ordinary corded grinder. There’s also a variable speed jig saw (DC330) included with the combo. I was rarely using it. On one instance notably, I used it to make straight long cuts through a 20 feet PVC. I had to use it since the jig saw was provided with straight-flush blade, and it enables me to stay straight on the long cuts, while the steel base plate keeping the pressure down on the PVC.
The DC550 is a Cut-out tool. It is a fitted with tool-free bit change. This tool is also had the least usage in my power tool list since I already have Back and Decker RTX rotary tool. Only that the DC550 is a single speed at 26000 rpm. It is too powerful to be handled single handedly. Yes, it can accept Black and Decker and Dremel tiny rotary bits, since the collet is almost the same size. Then the combo kit also includes, DW059, a 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench. How powerful is it? Powerful enough to change 4 Proton Wira 13” tyres at one battery charge. Unbelievable! The most-handy of them all is the DW919, flexible floodlight. It’s a spot light that using the same 18V XRP battery which has adjustable handle, very useful for covert ops and collecting durians at dawn.
2 Dewalt Contractor Bags are also included with the package। The bags are pretty huge at approximately 50l capacity. Not forgetting those included accessories for the aforementioned tools, like 2 units of 18V XRP battery, US fast charger, carbide tipped circular saw blade, circular saw rip fence, reciprocating saw blade and so on. I had the tools for around 2 years, before I decided to cash them out to a gentleman from Bentong. Bye bye Dewalt, and you are indeed Guaranteed Tough®.
